Vertebral Fractures are an important cause of back pain. It can be either a result of a high-velocity injury, typically seen in young people, or a trivial injury, often seen in elderly people. Osteoporotic fractures are often missed, as there is no clear history of injury, and advanced age complicates it by causing non-union or pseudoarthrosis (False joint formation). Common complaints are not being able to sit or stand without support, difficulty while turning in bed, or severe back pain on sitting for long periods. It needs multimodal treatment, including Pain management, providing mechanical support, Medications to treat osteoporosis, and last but not least, surgical treatment.
